CPO Re-Opens Gauri das Investigation

BY: MAHAVIDYA DASA (ACBSP)

Mar 15, LONDON, ENGLAND (SUN) — It's official, Gauri das will be re-investigated by the ISKCON CPO.

In response to rumours circulating around Iskcon UK, Tamohara prabhu from Iskcon CPO has confirmed that Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple President, Gauri das, will be re-investigated by the Iskcon Child Protection Office.

Due to the number of public newspaper articles wherein Gauri das has dismissed allegations of abuse perpetrated by him as "baseless", a number of his former students, who are now no longer children, have presented testimony to show how the initial 1995 investigation and report were seriously flawed. On that basis, and on the basis of new evidence and testimony from former students, this investigation will go forward.

May we suggest that anyone with information regarding this issue please contact Tamohara prabhu at Iskcon CPO.

On a personal note, I am encouraged to see the Iskcon CPO take this action, even though Bhaktivedanta Manor gives some financial support to Iskcon CPO. I was also disappointed that my GBC, Praghosa prabhu, could not verify the original rumour, given that Bhaktivedanta Manor is the biggest Temple in his zone.

Given that Gauri das has a growing reputation for being "economical with the truth", his senior management covering for him, we will be watching further developments with interest.
