Simple or Simpleton?

BY: RASAPREMA DASA

Aug 04, 2010 — AUSTRIA (SUN) — That is the question. Whether it is nobler to surrender to the qualified spiritual master, or just reduce the august Vaisnava philosophy to a bunch of catch phrases strung together leading to the ridiculous idea that one can take diksa from Srila Prabhupada for the next ten-thousand years, or whatever is the latest bizarre concocted nonsense.

Yes, simplicity is a virtue, but being an idiot is not. Of course, the simpleton cannot see the distinction. To him it's all one, and by the affection of mundane sentiment and the posturing of faithfulness, he foolishly considers he will be glorified in the society of Vaisnavas. He will be considered a pure soul able to see to the heart of sastra and come up with wonderful revelations – such as one doesn't need a spiritual master. One just needs a picture and the intelligence of a moron, which they perfectly exemplify.

Self-delusion is the disease of the materially conditioned. They all live in the la-la land of self-importance and stupidity. When they open their mouths, or put their fingers on the keyboard, inevitably they only display their ignorance and self-serving rationalization. Only a fool and rascal of the first order could twist the teaching of Srila Prabhupada into some weird post-samadhi initiation concoction.

Throughout the Vedic literatures and the commentaries of the Vaisnava acaryas one is enjoined to search out a spiritual master, enquire submissively and render service to him. That is what the Supreme Lord told Arjuna. But to the idiots of Kali-yuga, that means ‘find a picture and use your imagination' and nothing more.
