Eye of the Storm

Aug 30, USA (SUN) The ISKCON New Talavan community recently suffered a difficult blow with the tragic accident earlier this month that left one devotee dead and several seriously injured when their vehicle crashed while returning from Ratha Yatra. Today, the New Orleans/New Talavan yatra is again in the news, as hurricane Katrina has devastated parts of Louisiana and Mississippi.
The New Orleans temple, located at 2936 Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans, is likely to be right in the midst of serious flooding, and may also have sustained wind damage. The closest neighborhood photos we've identified showed significant wind damage at a university campus in the neighborhood. While Sun staff have not yet been able to make contact with anyone at the New Orleans temple, the following report was just received from the New Talavan community, located in Carriere, Mississippi.
