May 13, 2022 — CANADA (SUN) — A serial presentation of Shri Krishna Chaitanya-carita Mahakavya, written by Shrila Murari Gupta (1513 A.D.). Translation into English by Bhaktivedanta Bhagavata Swami. FIRST PRAKRAMA kva bhavan adya gantasi / papraccha madhura vacah 15 bhagavan - the Supreme Lord; tam - to him; pranamya - bowing down; ashu - swiftly; samalingya - having embraced; su-nirbharam - very tightly; kva - where?; bhavan - your honor; adya - today; gantasi - you will go; papraccha - he inquired; madhuram - sweet; vacah - words. Gaura Bhagavan at once bowed to Vanamali and embracing him very firmly, he inquired in a sweet voice, "Where is your honor going today?"
nivedita maya tasyai / tavodvahaya tatra sa 14 shraddha na vidhate tena / vimanah savrajamy aham ity ukte nottara datva / prahasya prayayau harih 15 sah - he; aha - said; matuh - of Your mother; caranam - feet; tava - Your; dtva - seen; samagatah - come; niveditam - offering; maya - by me; tasyai - unto her; tava - Your; udvahaya - for marriage; tatra - there; sa - she; shraddham - faith; na - not; vidhate -she placed; tena - for this reason; vimanah - dejected; savrajami - I am going; aham - I; iti - thus; ukte - having said; na - not; uttaram - answer; datva - having given; prahasya - laughing; prayayau - went forth; harih - Shri Hari. Vanamali replied, "I have just come from seeing the feet of Your mother. There I made a suggestion to her regarding Your marriage, but she had no faith in my proposal. For this reason I am now walking despondently." Gaura Hari made no comment on the Acarya's words but walked on laughing.
acaryaya vacah so 'pi / vimanah pathi gacchati 16 agatya - arriving; sva-ashramam - His own ashrama; praha - said; mataram - O mother; kim - why?; tvaya - by you; uditam - said; acaryaya - to the Acarya; vacah - statement; sah - he; api - and; vimanah - depressed; pathi - on the path; gacchati - goes. Arriving back at His own ashrama, Gaura said, "Mata, what did you say to the Acarya that made him so depressed as he walked on the path?"
etaj jnatva sutasyashu / matam apta-jana punah 17 acarya tvaraya netu / preayam asa sa shubha acaryah sahasagatya / namasktvabravid idam 18 katham - how?; na - not; tasya - of him; sapritah - well-loved; kta - done; matah - O mother; priya-uktibhih - by dear sayings; etat - this; jnatva - knowing; sutasya - of the son; ashu - soon; matam - mind; apta-janam - a trusted person; punah - again; acaryam - the Acarya; tvaraya - swiftly; netum - to bring; preayam asa - sent; sa - she; shubha - blessed; acaryah - the teacher; sahasa - speedily; agatya - having come; namasktva - having offered obeisances; abravit - said; idam - this. "Why did you not make him feel well-loved by offering pleasing words?" Suddenly His blessed mother became aware of the state of her son's mind, and she sent a trustworthy person to call back the Acarya. Quickly Vanamali returned and after respectfully bowing to her, he spoke thus:
saprahto vacah shrutva / bhavatyah sannidhav aham 19 katham - what?; ishvari - O queen; mam - me; ajnam - order; akarot - did; tat - that; bravitu - just say; me - to me; saprahtah - very happy; vacah - statement; shrutva - having heard; bhavatyah - of your good self; sannidhau - in the vicinity; aham - I. "Dear queen! What is your order? Please instruct me. Upon receiving your message, I have become most elated and returned to your gracious presence."
udhvahartha tu kathita / tat kartu tvam iharhasi 20 evam - thus; ukte - having spoken; tatah - then; praha - she said; tam - to him; shaci - Shrimati Shaci Devi; yat - what; tvaya - by you; vacah - words; udhvaha-artham - for the purpose of marriage; tu - but; kathitam - said; tat - that; kartum - to do; tvam - you; iha - now; arhasi - ought. At this, she replied, "Kindly carry out the suggestion which you made to me earlier concerning the marriage of Vishvambhara.
pura prokta sneha-vashat / tatra tva ki vadamy aham 21 tvam - you; suht - a good friend; vatsalah - affectionate; ativa - very much; sutasya - of my son; svayam - spontaneous; eva - indeed; tat - that; pura - formerly; proktam - spoken; sneha-vashat - controlled by affection; tatra - there; tvam - you; kim - what; vadami - I say; aham - I. "Of your own accord you are acting as a good and affectionate friend of my son. Whatever I said before to you was also motivated by love for my son. What more can I say?"
ishvari tvad-vaco nitya / karomi shirasa vahan 22 etat - this; shrutva - hearing; vacah - words; tasyah - of her; praha - said; acaryah - the Acarya; naman - bowing; vacah - words; ishvari - O queen; tvat-vacah - your words; nityam - always; karomi - I do; shirasa - with my head; vahan - carrying. Hearing her words, the Acarya bowed his head and said, "O queen, I shall ever carry out your orders, bearing them on my head.
