Jiv Jago Jayadvaita Swami, Dravida &
Govinda Datta Prabhus!
BY: A GROUP OF SRILA PRABHUPADA DISCIPLES & FOLLOWERS
Nov 05, 2010 GLOBAL (SUN) Dear Jayadvaita Swami, Dravida Prabhu & Company,
In our recent article on Sampradaya Sun, entitled "Please Explain, Jayadvaita Swami, Dravida Prabhu & Company", we had requested you to explain why you have committed the five great offences (listed below) to your spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, in regards to the editing and removal of the contents in the Macmillan version of the Bhagavad-gita As It Is.
Unfortunately, in this case you have exhibited a striking resemblance to the ISKCON Gurus/GBC's/Temple President's standard policy over the past 33 years after the physical departure of Srila Prabhupada, of never bothering to reply to questions from the rank and file devotees, and also shoving underneath the carpet their many offences and great deviations made to Srila Prabhupada. This is so especially when they, and now yourselves, have been caught red-handed, i.e., with your hands awfully stuck in the cookie jar.
The five offences are namely (1) your having removed the foreword by Professor Edward Dimock that was printed in the original Macmillan version of the Bhagavad-gita As It Is which Srila Prabhupada personally read, commented on and praised Edward Dimock for. Please see this video. (2) Having omitted 47 out of 48 of the original color pictures inside from the original Macmillan Bhagavad-gita As It Is, including the pictures of the bona fide disciplic succession Gurus coming before Srila Prabhupada. (3) Having removed and replaced the beautiful original front cover of the Macmillan version of the Bhagavad-gita As It Is with your own concocted version. (4) Having put a commentary by the demon Gandhi on the back cover of your revised version of Bhagavad-gita, whom Srila Prabhupada confirmed as never having had any faith that Lord Krsna even existed, and who also sanctioned wholesale cow killing. (5) Having removed the words below the picture of Srila Prabhupada in the original Macmillan Bhagavad-gita, namely "greatest exponent of Krsna consciousness in the western world".
Just for your information, regarding offence No. 4, Srila Prabhupada comments in the 4th Chapter, Text 3 purport of the Bhagavad-gita that "commentaries made by the devotees is real, whereas that of the demons is useless", yet you Jayadvaita Swami, Dravida Prabhu & Company, dare put a demon's comment on the back cover of the Bhagavad-gita!
The world is watching and waiting. Whenever you do finally arrange at your sweet time another one of the many of those post 1978 BBT meetings that never produce any practical results, at least this time, amongst yourselves, please try to come up with some solid reasons for committing the above five offences. This way you could try to make yourselves ‘look good' in the eyes of the world of devotees who have been questioning your unauthorized post-1978 removal and editions of Srila Prabhupada's works. By doing so, maybe there is also a good chance of your buying some more time in order to continue these nasty actions.
Regarding the different quotes in Govinda Datta Prabhu's article, entitled "Editing of Srila Prabhupada's Books as Requested by HDG Srila Prabhupada", there are some quotes which are directly from Srila Prabhupada and are factual evidence, also confirmed in the Folio, and other quotes which Govinda Datta Prabhu mentions, some devotees claiming what they now think or remember Srila Prabhupada saying about Jayadvaita Swami at the time. But Hello Govinda Datta Prabhu! Regardless of whichever, that is not the point at issue here. No one disagrees with Srila Prabhupada's recorded praises of Jayadvaita Swami at the time for his editing works, and all credit goes to Jayadvaita Swami for his service at the time. What we are questioning here now are these serious offences and deviations made by Jayadvaita Swami after the physical departure of Srila Prabhupada, in particular on the Macmillan version of the Bhagavad-gita As It Is.
Govinda Datta Prabhu, you cannot keep using these praises by Srila Prabhupada to Jayadvaita Swami as a license for his free fall editing and removal of Srila Prabhupada's works post-1978. That is spiritually very dangerous, and you are cheating yourself and others by giving a license to any disciple who had been praised by Srila Prabhupada at the time of his physical presence, to later on do any deviation they want, and especially after Srila Prabhupada's physical departure.
Please note that Srila Prabhupada also praised (several times recorded on Folio in his Letters and Conversations) all of the 1978 eleven Zonal Acaryas for their respective services at the time. Yet we all know how much destruction, devastation and the many offences these personalities had committed to Srila Prabhupada, to the ISKCON Society as a whole, and to thousands of individual devotees after Srila Prabhupada's physical departure. Therefore, Govinda Datta Prabhu, are you going to justify their heinous actions of posing as liberated acaryas at the time, by quoting the many praises from Srila Prabhupada to them pre-1977? If not, (we certainly hope not), then we question why have you done so for Jayadvaita Swami, when he cannot even reply as to why he and company have committed the five offences on the Bhagavad-gita listed above?
Just to give the readers one example and scenario, a devotee might use Tamal Krishna and his many disciples' famous claim of Srila Prabhupada's praising him as " having been able to stand even fire". Readers, please look back at history and see that all history shows us is that the only fire exhibited by Tamal Krishna Maharaja after the physical departure of Srila Prabhupada was to set fire to the whole of ISKCON spiritually, and to Srila Prabhupada's teachings on the Guru issue. This Tamal Krishna Maharaja did by first claiming that (a) Srila Prabhupada appointed and authorized strictly only 11 Gurus solely to be the "material and spiritual succesSors of ISKCON, then (b) two years later making a 180 degree turn by declaring to the whole world that he was the only Guru and the only way for all devotees, both pre- and post-1977 to attain the shelter of Srila Prabhupada, and then yet again (c) making an even more colorful 180 degree turn by declaring that Srila Prabhupada had authorized 80 or so odd Gurus in ISKCON. The figures kept changing.
Many thousands of devotees are well aware of the above sad history of Tamal Krishna Goswami changing his mind faster than even the wind. Therefore one cannot even fathom the sheer foolishness and mundane sentimental mentality of such a devotee if he/she chooses to use such praise/praises by Srila Prabhupada/other devotees as an example to justify Tamal Krishna's actions post-1977.
Another example is of Jayatirtha Swami and his disciples/followers around 1979, claiming that Srila Prabhupada praised Jayatirtha with the quote: "Jayatirtha is my tirtha". Yet after the physical departure of Srila Prabhupada, history shows us that unfortunately Jayatirtha's sole tirtha was illicit sex and drugs, for which Krishna soon punished him by having him beheaded by his disciple.
There are many examples we can keep describing, but in order not to make this article too voluminous, we will spare you such quotes from either Srila Prabhupada or other devotees, and the subsequent behaviour of the particular devotee being praised. We hope, Govinda Datta Prabhu, you get the point, and do not aid and abet another devotee/devotees when they have seriously offended their spiritual master, lest you also be implicated in the sinful reaction.
We also sincerely hope that Jayadvaita Swami, Dravida Prabhu and Company reply to our article, and not keep hiding behind their BBT office desks, from where they have made these unauthorized changes and omissions of Srila Prabhupada's great spiritual works.
