Madhu Pandit dasa Caught Red-handed Lying

BY: BANGALORE CORRESPONDENT

Sep 05, 2011 — BANGALORE, INDIA (SUN) — The problem for chronic liars like Madhu Pandit Dasa is that they forget their previous lies and then contradict themselves in their new lies. It is much easier to just stick to the truth because it is easier to remember.

In Madhu Pandit's latest text of September 1, 2011 "ISKCON Mumbai is Not Serious About Peace", he is caught out in a lie by writing the following:

"Further, after June 5th 2011 hearing of Supreme Court which instructed both the litigating parties to maintain Status quo and try to resolve the differences peacefully, I went personally to ISKCON Mumbai, and met with Sri Bhima dasa the member Secretary of Bureau of ISKCON Mumbai, to discuss and work out peace proposal. Unfortunately Sri Bhima dasa, threatened that if we do not surrender to the ISKCON Guru system, all the ISKCON Bangalore Society's office bearers will be jailed. I was humiliated when a proposal for peace was offered, a patented proof to the fact that ISKCON Mumbai is not really serious about peace."

However in a previous text, "Challenging the Bangalore Correspondent, he claims just the opposite -- that he didn't go to Mumbai to work out a peace proposal.

Jun 18, 2011 — BANGALORE, INDIA (SUN) — "What a twist the Bangalore Correspondent has given to the purpose of my recent visit to ISKCON Mumbai temple. I never went to ISKCON Juhu temple to talk compromise with them. I went to ISKCON Juhu temple directly from Delhi after the Supreme Court hearing as a thanks giving visit to the Deities of ISKCON Juhu temple, and was there for not more than 15 minutes. They are the first Deities whose mercy I received in 1979, when I walked into ISKCON after reading Srila Prabhupada's books for two years in my IIT library without knowing that there is an organization called ISKCON."

Is it any wonder that no one trusts him? (For more lies by Madhu Pandit dasa see "Madhu Pandit dasa: Prince of Prevarication and Father of Lies ".

Time For Madhu Pandit to Wake Up

In his latest text, ISKCON Mumbai is Not Serious About Peace, he is still in the illusion that he is in a position to dictate peace terms. He is not, and he had better snap out of it soon, before he wakes up in jail along with his co-conspirators Bhakti-lata dd, Chanchalapati dasa et al. These are the facts that Madhu Pandit dasa had better come to grips with:

  • He suffered a crushing defeat in the High Court of Karnataka

  • He will also lose in the Supreme Court

  • Criminal charges will then be filed against him and his co-conspirators

  • They will lose and go to jail for a long time, and may even die in jail

  • His unrealistic demands and continued fighting just make people more and more angry with him

According to the Indian Penal Code, these are some of the sections under which Madhu Pandit dasa and co-conspirators will be charged. This is not a complete list, but only indicative of the real and palpable trouble Madhu Pandit dasa is in:

Section 181: Knowingly stating to a public servant on oath as true that which is false — imprisonment for 3 years and fine.

Section 193: Giving or fabricating evidence in a judicial proceeding — imprisonment for 7 years and fine.

Section 409: Criminal breach of trust by a public servant or by a banker, merchant or agent, etc. — imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for 10 years and fine.

Section 418: Cheating a person whose interest the offender was bound, either by law or by legal contract to protect — imprisonment for 3 years or fine or both.

Section 420: Cheating and thereby dishonestly inducing delivery of property, or the making, alteration or destruction of a valuable security — imprisonment for 7 years and fine.

Section 467: Forgery of a valuable security will or authority to make or transfer any valuable security or to receive any money, property, etc. — imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for 10 years and fine.

Section 468: Forgery for the purpose of cheating — imprisonment for 7 years and fine.

Section 477A: Falsification of accounts — imprisonment for 7 years and fine.

Section 120B: Criminal conspiracy to commit an offence punishable with death or life imprisonment or rigorous imprisonment for a term of 2 years or upwards.

Generally prison sentences are served concurrently, with the smaller sentences subsumed by the larger sentences. In that case the three most serious sections that he has violated are Sections 409, 467 and 120B, indicating that the minimum sentence he would get is 10 years to life imprisonment. Considering the enormity of his crimes, the amount of money he has stolen (allegedly over INR 2000-3000 crores), harm he has done to ISKCON and Prabhupada's mission, hurt to devotees, etc., ISKCON may push for the maximum allowed for by the Indian Penal Code which is three (3) life sentences with no eligibility for parole. He dies in prison. ISKCON may want to do this to set an example lest someone else try and follow in his footsteps.

It should be noted that Madhu Pandit dasa needed help from co-conspirators to commit these crimes, hence they may well also go to jail along with him. His co-conspirators include but are not limited to: Bhakti-lata dd (his wife), Chanchalapati dasa (brother-in-law), Chameri dd (his sister-in-law), Jai Caitanya dasa, Chitranga Chaitanya dasa, Stoka Krishna dasa, the current "GBC" that he has appointed as well as others like Bharatarshabha dasa, his propaganda minister.

Compromise is on ISKCON's terms only

Madhu Pandit dasa does not have any choice but to accept ISKCON's terms of unconditional surrender and request ISKCON to spare him by not pressing criminal charges against him, or else he and his family and friends may not escape going to jail for a long time. He cannot expect ISKCON to reward him for his crimes by allowing him to keep any ill-gotten gains. He has no choice but to turn over all properties and assets to ISKCON and request that criminal charges against him not be pressed. If it is later found out that he has reneged and cheated and kept some assets, then I am sure ISKCON will definitely press criminal charges. If ISKCON is satisfied with the sincerity of Madhu Pandit's cooperation then they may even offer him some respectable rehabilitation package, but he is no position to dictate anything. His attempts to dictate expose him as a fool, out of touch with reality, and just hardens hearts against him. It would behoove him to take his foot out of his mouth and put a straw in it's place.

From our inside information, whatever friends he may have had on the Bureau (Governing Council) of ISKCON in India have turned against him. I personally heard at the recent meeting here in Bangalore one of his former allies say to another devotee: "It took me a long time to realize it, but now I understand that Madhu Pandit is only interested in himself and cares for no one."

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me

Some Bureau members were at first of the opinion to just get the temple back and forget about the rest of it and leave it to Madhu Pandit because they were tired of fighting, but he kept coming to the Bureau whenever he was weak and bid for time, and then again attacked them. This has made many Bureau members realize that they cannot trust Madhu Pandit, because he will renege on his promises at anytime and they will be back in the courts, and that means again starting from local court all the way up to Supreme Court. So better to finish it once and for all, especially when they have come so far from lower court to the Supreme Court in the last ten years.

For example, in March 2001 when the Bureau was about to suspend him, Madhu Pandit dasa went to Mumbai and pleaded with his friends in the Bureau, and promised to cooperate. The Bureau suspended Adri Dharan dasa but spared Madhu Pandit dasa. But it was only a ploy. Madhu Pandit dasa bought time to falsify accounts, fabricate documents etc., to usurp the whole Bangalore temple complex along with funds and other assets. Then for the next nine years he did not bother to speak about peace, but rather went to Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmadabad, Chennai, and Guwahati, etc. creating problems for local ISKCON Temples there. His lying and cheating has rendered him untrustworthy and his arrogance has killed any sympathy they had for him.

Again in Jan-Feb. 2009 when the Bangalore Trial Court judgment was about to come and Madhu Pandit was afraid of losing, he went to HH Bhakti Caru Maharaja and other GBCs with a peace proposal and offered Bangalore Temple back to ISKCON. HH Bhakti Caru Swami was elated. He got other GBCs and met Madhu Pandit in Mumbai to put final seal on this peace proposal, but by that time, Madhu Pandit had managed to get a favorable order from the Trial Court and he did a volta face. When HH Bhakti Caru Swami reminded him about his offer of handing over Bangalore Temple to ISKCON, Madhu Pandit told him to forget about it. I am sure all these things are weighing on the minds of ISKCON India leaders when they get so-called peace proposals from Madhu Pandit dasa.

To conclude, Madhu Pandit dasa must stop insulting the intelligence of the Bureau members with his ridiculous demands and so-called peace offers, where he acts as if he is doing them a favor or that he is in a position of power. If he surrenders unconditionally as mentioned above before the Supreme Court starts to hear the case in late September/early October, then the Bureau will consider not pressing criminal charges against him and his family and co-conspirators. That is the only compromise that is open to him at this time. He can take it or leave it. There is no other option.

(It should also be noted that the recent rejection by the Supreme Court of Madhu Pandit's SLP is a clear indication of what is in store for him if he continues in that venue. For the judges to come to their recent decision on his SLP means they had to study the decision of the High Court of Karnataka and found it sound, and on that basis rejected his SLP.)
