6 15 04 Tues 0938
Nitai Gaura - Sitting on a shaded bench in City Hall Park. I work on John Street and Broadway at Record Explosion. I start at 10:30 so I have a little time to catch up here.
Saturday was NY Ratha Yatra and it was also my birthday. I video-taped the parade but my camera kept turning off every time someone or something bumped into it. I need a new one.
Jahnu and Bhakti (my sons) came to the parade with Cynthia and her niece. They also went to the festival and ate (honored) prasadam.
I saw some godbrothers and sisters - Amara, Parvati, Amara's daughter (Sundarangi), Bhagavatananda, Narada Rsi, Akrura, Daruka, Surrotama, Siva Radhya, Mahaprabhu, Varnasrama, Partha Dhanurdara.
I got hugs from Bhumi and Vakresvara Pandita.
I spoke with a woman who goes by the name Vedica. She used to work for Cosmo way back when I worked with him at Soho Market.
She was a skinny, tom-boyish, bass playing, 19 year old aspiring Vaisnavi then. Now she is a full grown, filled out, settled down, married, entrepreneur cake baking specialist Vaisnavi.
She approached me at the festival, called me by my name and re-introduced herself to me. She told me I was the only one she got along with at Soho Market. I didn't recall who she was at first. She was wearing sunglasses and I asked her to remove them and I still didn't recognize her. We talked for a long time and I really enjoyed the association and the inspiration.
I hung out with Akrura for most of the festival. Jahnu and Bhakti also hung out for a while. After they left I spoke with Partha and Daruka and Mahaprabhu and Bhushara.
I bought a poster of the Brahma Madvha Gaudiya Sampradaya.
I also took photos. At the festival Amara wouldn't let me photograph her while she was eating a piece of watermelon.
At the festival I listened to Bhumi Pati, Hamsarupa, Bhagavatananda (they were talking with Akrura).
I also spoke with Acyutapriya and Surrotama's 2 daughters that are always with her. I took their picture.
The parade was very nice. Nice kirtanas. No mishaps except for a horse rearing and kicking the back of a yellow cab because the kirtana for Lord Jagannatha, when He was waiting on 59th Street, was very loud and frightened the horse and he wouldn't calm down until Mother Satya made them stop the kirtana and let the horse go by. 10:09
