We Follow this Inspiration
BY: R.A. SADHUDASA ANUDASA
Apr 10, 2011 SRIDHAM MAYAPUR, WEST BENGAL (SUN) We follow this inspiration to get the ISKCON-GBC to hear the "rest of us".
I just read something about the Lokpal. In Wikipedia it means this:
Lokpal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
The word Lokpal means an ombudsman in India. The word has been derived from the Hindi words "lok" (people) and "pal" (protector/caretaker).
Pure Vaishnavas are protected by Gopala or GovindaJI, and aspirant Vaishnavas should also know how to become recipients of such Divine Grace, which has come down via HDG Srila Prabhupada's books.
However, there is a myriad of individuals on earth, and everyone of them would have a particular perception of Srila Prabhupada's teachings right now, and of course tomorrow also. We DO believe that Srila Prabhupada's teachings are UNAMBIGUOUS. If you have heard something that it doesn't represents Srila Prabhupada's teachings, the need to have your opinion heard is impelled for the sake of the future generations and the spiritual fidelity of Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON movement.
After reading the following, every one of us (meaning ISKCON-GBC's, "regular" gurus,
"senior" gurus, and all the ecclesiastic administrative ISKCON pyramid) should
think deeply what DO we really KNOW about his teachings. How we evaluate Srila
Prabhupada as a true Shakti-Avesha-Avatara will make any of us his true followers
—regardless any kind of formal initiation. The future is what you make out of it,
not necessary what others tell you about it.
(Excerpts from my personal offering for the Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa-puja
Celebrations 2011):
[Dear Srila Prabhupada]... During the Vyasa-puja celebrations of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta this year, I showed you a different translation and purport by your students to the one you have already offered in Chaitanya-charitamrita, Madhya-lila 24.137, which correspond to Srimad Bhagavatam 11.2.37. I take advantage of your Vyasa-puja celebrations to present it here again, since it is a very good example on how an inexperienced reader may misplace the principles of rasa and tattva—thus incurring in rasa-abhasa and apa-siddhanta or tattva-abhasa:
Cc. Madya 24.137
As spoken by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu while describing the atmarama verse:
bhayam dvitiyabhiniveshatah syad
ishad apetasya viparyayo ‘smritih
tan-mayayato budha abhajet tam
bhaktyaikayesham guru-devatatma
YOUR SYNONYMS, SRILA PRABHUPADA:
bhayam—fear; dvitiya-abhiniveshatah—from the misconception of being a product of material energy; syat—arises; ishat—from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna; apetasya—of one who has withdrawn (the conditioned soul);
viparyayah—reversal of position; asmritih—no conception of his relationship with the Supreme Lord; tat-mayaya—because of the illusory energy of the Supreme Lord; atah—therefore; budhah—one who is wise; abhajet—must worship; tam—Him; bhaktya—by devotional service; ekaya—not diverted to karma and jnana; isham—the Supreme Personality of Godhead; guru—as the spiritual master; devata—worshipable Lord; atma—Supersoul.
YOUR TRANSLATION, SRILA PRABHUPADA:
"When the living entity is attracted by the material energy, which is separate from Krishna, he is overpowered by fear. Because he is separated from the Supreme Personality of Godhead by the material energy, his conception of life is reversed. In other words, instead of being the eternal servant of Krishna, he becomes Krishna's competitor. This is called viparyayo ‘smritih. To nullify this mistake, one who is actually learned and advanced worships the Supreme Personality of Godhead as his spiritual master, worshipful Deity and source of life. He thus worships the Lord by the process of unalloyed devotional service."
YOUR PURPORT, SRILA PRABHUPADA:
"This verse is quoted from Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.2.37)."
I submit next your students' translation and purport of the same verse, as it is has been already published by your Bhaktivedanta Book Trust:
SB. 11.2.37
SYNONYMS BY YOUR STUDENTS:
bhayam—fear; dvitiya—in something seeming to be other than the Lord; abhiniveshatah—because of absorption; syat—it will arise; ishat—from the Supreme Lord; apetasya—for one who has turned away; viparyayah—misidentification; asmritih—forgetfulness; tat—of the Lord; mayaya—by the illusory energy; atah—therefore; budhah—an intelligent person; abhajet—should worship fully; tam—Him; bhaktya—with devotion; ekaya—unalloyed; isham—the Lord; guru-devata-atma—one who sees his own spiritual master as his lord and very soul.
TRANSLATION BY YOUR STUDENTS:
"Fear arises when a living entity misidentifies himself as the material body because of absorption in the external, illusory energy of the Lord. When the living entity thus turns away from the Supreme Lord, he also forgets his own constitutional position as a servant of the Lord. This bewildering, fearful condition is effected by the potency for illusion, called maya. Therefore, an intelligent person should engage unflinchingly in the unalloyed devotional service of the Lord, under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master, whom he should accept as his worshipable deity and as his very life and soul."
Bona-fide spiritual processes are fully based in bona-fide Scriptural CONCLUSIONS. If we allow ourselves to be misguided by different conclusions, it is our own exclusive CURSE. On the other hand, there is always chance for discussions, or
dialogues amongst Brahmins. If that is not even there, one may be left only with
ones own CURSE.
On this mundane world Monarchy is for Kings, Capitalism is for Vaishyas, Communism is for Sudras, Democracy is for demons that are crazy, and Anarchy is for demons... who are acquainted with the Vedas, and are able to misguide the "Lok" (people). It is left to the Vaishnava-brahmanas —and those Vaishnava-brahmanas who then could act as Vaishnava-kshatriyas to protect (pal) the ISKCON Lokpal— and then establish "True anarchy in the perfect realm of Love"… where Sri Krishna is the only Absolute Tyrant.
I'll always remain your servant, in the seva to Srila Prabhupada and the pure
Vaishnavas,
R.A. Sadhudasa Anudasa
