Comment on 'Dire Warning'

In reply to the recent article by Giribaradhari das, "Dire Warning Indeed", yes, this stock market investment activity is nothing short of 'gambling'. There is no difference. As stated, so-called stock market investors may be trained and licensed on how to gamble with your money on Wall Street, but are they any more expert at gambling than an experienced man sitting at a casino poker table in Vegas? No, it's all the same.

Unfortunately, our entire society and social structure is associated with gambling. Our economy is fueled by it. Many times responsible householders who put money into a 401K account, thinking it will be safe, are shocked to find out their investment firm 'gambled' with their hard earned money and lost it.

With me personally, I am a working householder outside ISKCON and I also contribute to a 401K for retirement. However, I made it clear to my investment firm that I wanted a 'no risk account even though it gave zero interest on my money'. They couldn't understand my conservative approach, but complied with my request. I know I'm not going to make money because of the type of account I have set up, but I also know that these 'thug' 401K investors can't 'gamble' with my money and potentially loose it.

It's not only the direction of His Divine Grace 'not to gamble', but it's basically common sense! Our life here in this birth is very short, but Krsna will surely care for His sincere devotees. We don't have to gamble to be secure and comfortable. All we need to do is follow the orders of Srila Prabhupada, be sincere with our path in Krsna Consciousness, control our senses and behave intelligently. Then everything will be taken care of by Krsna.
