India Takes up Temple Demolition Case with Russia

Dec 03, NEW DELHI (SUN) — India has taken up with Russia the recent demolition of a Krishna temple in that country, Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran said today. Replying to a query, Mr Saran told reporters that a ''satisfactory solution'' was expected in view of the very friendly relations between the two countries. However, HE ruled out the possibility of the demolition arising from any anti-religious measure by the Russian government. the authorities possibly wanted the land for development purpose, he said. Krishna Consciousness had approached the Indian government following the demolition. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be visiting Russia from December 4th to 7th.
