'Images From Mayapur' Photographer Requests Assistance

Nov 9, MAYAPUR, INDIA (SUN) — Resources are precious in the wake of the Mayapur flood, as a great deal of repair and renovation gets underway. Consequently, funds are being diverted from non-essential programs and the service of many devotees may be disrupted.

The work of Mayapur photographer Vrindavan Lila devi dasi has graced the pages of the Sampradaya Sun this year, and we are grateful for the beautiful stream of images that regularly pour out of the Holy Dhama. As noted in her personal letter, below, funding for her work has been cut, and her family is in great need of financial assistance. Please reciprocate, if you are able.

Dear devotees & members of our various mailing lists,
Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

As you may have noticed, we have not posted for quite a while (at least half a month or even longer). The reasons are few. Firstly my father has visited and to see him after 10 years and sorting out some family obligations was very overwhelming and very much time and mind consuming. I was hoping to get back to normal schedule of postings after his visit, but right there happened something else - very distressful for us.

A few days back we were informed that we are no longer sponsored by SMPDC (Sri Mayapur Project Development Committee). This news came quite abruptly and unexpected.

And while we were contemplating this - both of our phone connections have been cut, so now we do not have Internet access any more. We can not go on the Internet in our room or even when we take our personal computer to Internet-cafe, because they have everything set up for PC platform there and we are working on the MAC. I have to send letters in a very awkward way for now - by taking them by the card-reader to someone else's machine.

We have pending expenses, like 2 of our desktop PC computers are in need of repair. We are still due to pay US $ 800 for some equipment we use, our personal maintenance has been stopped and although promised, the back money for October (not received yet) - that also been cut down and we don't get the full amount.

We also needed to see doctors, which we were planning to do after Kartik finished, in Kolkata, but now we cannot dare to spend such money, not knowing what the future holds for us.

We are trying now to either get our Internet access back or arrange for a new one, but such things are taking considerable time here... We are planning to continue to maintain or mailing lists of Mayapur photos and videos. We still want to offer free service of Mayapur darshan to the devotees world wide. BUT we do NEED MONEY too bad now.

Thus we are requesting all of you, our members, some of you have been receiving Mayapur mails for few years now, WE PLEAD TO YOU ALL - please help us financially at this difficult time.

We need 7,000 US $ to get us going through ONE YEAR at the present living facility (this includes equipment maintenance). If somehow we have to change our accommodation, then we will need closer to 8,500-9,000 US $ per year to live and maintain our service (rent and electric bills are high).
