Temples Safe in Pakistan, India Earthquake

Oct 8, USA (SUN) — A massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck parts of Pakistan, India, Afghanistan and Kashmir.

Sun staff have been in contact with the devotees at ISKCON Ludhiana, which is located about 250 kilometers away from Pakistan. According to Temple President, Rajsuya dasa, the Deities and devotees are all safe there thanks to the mercy of Lord Krishna. The temple experienced the earthquake shocks at 9:25 a.m. local time, which continued for several seconds.

The most serious damage was experienced in Pakistan, where more than 1,000 died, but damage was also reported in Jammu and Kashmir. The ISKCON center in Katra near Vaishnu Devi temple is also safe. The quake was followed by 5.4 and 6.3 magnitude aftershocks, which were felt as far away as New Delhi.
