Jul 12, CAN (SUN) — The 2005 Toronto Festival of Chariots will take place this Saturday and Sunday, July 16th and 17th in Toronto, Canada. Led by an elephant, the chariot parade will start at the intersection of Yonge and Bloor Streets, continue down Yonge Street, and end at Centre Island. The Festival of India will be ongoing at Centre Island for the remainder of the weekend to engage and entertain the public in transcendental activities. As always, a free vegetarian feast will be distributed, along with continuous live entertainment, Vedic art displays and exhibitions, drama and music, and many activities for children.

The Toronto Ratha Yatra regularly draws more than 30,000 people who come to enjoy seeing the beautiful smiling faces of Their Lordships Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva and Lady Subhadra sitting resplendent in Their beautiful chariots, which are pulled by thousands of devotees along the famous Yonge Street route.

This year's parade begins at Yonge and Bloor by the Metro Toronto Public Library at 11:00 a.m. The parade will make its way down Yonge Street. At approximately 12:30 p.m., the parade will come to a halt for several minutes at the intersection of Yonge and Dundas streets. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the kirtan, have darshan of Their Lordships, and take pictures of the chariots. Then parade will then move to its conclusion at the intersection of Yonge St. and Queens Quay, ending at approximately 1:30 p.m. From there, festival goers will head to Centre Island for a free, sumptuous vegetarian feast, where they can view fascinating exhibits about Krsna Consciousness, browse boutique and specialty shop stands, and enjoy the constant entertainment provided on two stages.
