Departure of Marian McCaffrey Thomas


May 14, ATHENS, OHIO (SUN) — Marian McCaffrey Thomas, 25, of Athens, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 11, 2009 at Grant Hospital in Columbus. She was born July 28, 1983 in Zanesville, Ohio, to Stephen and Patricia (Dalasta) Thomas of Waverly, who survive.

Marian was an active member of ISKCON Columbus, and was loved by her many friends there. Marian enjoyed writing stories and poetry and playing her flute and guitar.

Also surviving are paternal grandparents, William and Annabel Thomas of Ashley; maternal grandparent, Derio Dalasta; and step-grandparent, Dorothy Dalasta of Lewiston, Idaho; uncles and aunts, Jack and Elizabeth Lantz of Columbus, Greg and Katie Reese of Dayton, Michael and Wendy Thomas of Manlius, NY, David and Jane Droll of Millersport, Sue and Mike Harrow of Thornville, and Betty Dalasta of Wausau, WI; cousins, George (Meagan), Peter, and Rachel Lantz, Dani, Molly, and William Reese, Chris, Andew and Ben Thomas, Amy (Chris) Grell, Danielle, Julie and Renee Dalasta and Rachael, John, James and Olivia Droll. She is also survived by her close friend, Satish More.

Marian graduated from Waverly High School in 2001, was active in band, drama club, and the school newspaper. She graduated in 2006 from Oberlin College with a B.A. degree in Creative Writing. She formerly worked at the Clintonville Community Market in Columbus.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held May 23rd at 4 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Grace United Methodist Church, 104 S. High St., Waverly.
