May 08, INDIA (SUN) — Readers of Sampradaya Sun may sense that several contributors are seasoned devotees, which means these souls have developed a taste for hearing and writing topics about Krsna. In his commentary on Raghunatha das Gosvami’s Sri Manah Siksa, entitled Sri Bhajana-darpana, Bhaktivinoda Thakura writes about such devotees: This is the essential spiritual question - What is the living entity’s prime duty when he finally develops heartfelt faith in the topics of Krsna consciousness, a faith which is the result of so much piety?

The next question that naturally arises is, what can one do to increase such spiritual desires and progress to higher levels of consciousness and love? Bhaktivinoda Thakura writes: Sri Manah Siksa answers this important question, and in Sri Bhajana-darpana every point in these verses is explained in detail, and all the inner esoteric meanings revealed.

Thus, Raghunatha das Gosvami’s Sri Manah Siksa is a superb treatise for those who have acquired a taste for hearing, but desire to focus their attention more directly. It gives intricate instructions how-to-focus, on whom to focus, and even how to pray and worship with more directed concentration. Coupled with Bhaktivinoda Thakura’s sublime commentary, this small book of only 12 verses should be read by all devotees who want to take their bhajan to the next level.

We recently recorded Sri Manah Siksa, and the audiobook is available here:
