Risks of Protesting the Yamuna Bridge While on Visa in India

BY: BHIMA DAS

Feb 16, INDIA (SUN) — Dear Devotees, Please accept my obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Just for your information, the Indian authorities have taken an objection to foreign persons being involved in this political agitation against the bridge. If the government wants it can cancel anyone's visa for such an act.

All visas to India have a very clear disclaimer on them "Not allowed for change of purpose" that means a person with a tourist visa can only be a tourist. A person having a student visa can only be doing studies.

Legally a person with a visa for India cannot have a visa for one thing and do something else. Being involved in a political agitation regarding a government construction is not within the purview of anyone holding an Indian Visa.

Please be warned this type of activity of political nature could cause those involved to loose their visas.

The ISKCON Vrindavan temple management is not advocating that the foreign devotees get involved in this or any other agitation and warns those participating do so at there own risk.
