Solving ISKCON's Social Problems

BY: RADHA KRISHNA DAS

Nov 17, USA (SUN) — You want to know how to solve all of ISKCON's social problems?

Have all women married by the age of 16, or even better, by 12 or 14. This is what sastra, Vedic culture, and Srila Prabhupada prescribe. But because we don't follow sastra or Vedic culture, we have so many problems. If a girl is not married by the above mentioned ages, she will have a very difficult time sticking to one man for the rest of her life, especially if she has already lost her virginity.

And second, absolutely forbid divorce in all circumstances! Srila Prabhupada's teachings unequivocally forbid divorce, as does sastra and Vedic culture. If the husband or the wife turns out bad, better to simply accept this as the karma Krishna is giving you for this lifetime, rather than try to change it through divorce.

A devotee who has divorced their husband/wife is in direct defiance of sastra, Vedic culture, and Srila Prabhupada's teachings, and since she/he has directly rejected sastra, Vedic culture, and Srila Prabhupada's teachings by such an action (divorce), she/he should be rejected from the society of followers of the Vedas (the devotee society) so that other will not get contaminated also.

But because we ISKCON devotees, and especially western devotees, think we are transcendental and don't have to follow sastra or Vedic culture, we have so many problems. We have no one to blame but ourselves.
