Like the sparrow pecking at the waves to empty the ocean, that same determination is required to become a yogi, who always brings his mind with determination back to Krishna and his God-given intelligence… such a huge and daunting task, like the sparrow, to free ourselves from this dreadful ocean of material existence.
Mother Yasoda also showed her determination when binding Lord Krishna. She would not give up trying and trying and trying and repeatedly fetched more and more rope, much to the amusement of her friends, and even herself. After some time Krishna, who was in competition with his devotee, watching and enjoying the rasa, finally submitted to her love.
This lila gives encouragement to us all that we have to be determined and sometimes go through so many difficulties with our mind and senses… but Krishna becomes pleased if we persist to keep ourselves at the lotus feet of his devotee and constantly practise thinking of Him, and never give up. Then He may release us and bestow upon us Krishna prema, hope against hope. Lessons we learn from the teachings of our great acaryas.
