Inauspicious Death

BY: SHYAMASUNDARA DASA

Aug 19, 2010 — BANGALORE, INDIA (SUN) — In his article, "The Circumstances of Aindra's Departure", Rocana Prabhu wrote:

"Aside from the practical aspects of the situation, we can only wonder as to the spiritual cause, wondering why someone so saintly and devoted to his service would, ultimately by Krsna's arrangement, die in such a seemingly traumatic way. ISKCON eulogized Tamal Krishna Goswami when he died in a violent accident which many construed to be inauspicious. Today, many are speculating in the same way about Aindra's departure, but we really cannot say it's auspicious or inauspicious.

It happened in Vrindavan, that's auspicious. It took place in Srila Prabhupada's temple facility, that's also auspicious. Aindra apparently didn't have to suffer for very long, and he's eligible for a better body, and that's also auspicious. The fact that he ended in this way seems very violent, but so was the Battle of Kurukshetra violent. Violence and sudden circumstances are not unknown in our sastra."

People who don't like someone say it is a bad way to die for propaganda purposes, that's what it boils down to.

In the Mahabharata, the five sons of the Pandavas were murdered in their sleep. What could be more inauspicious than that, especially for kshatriyas. Yet they were pure devotees of Lord Krsna, Who was their 2nd cousin. While the Pandavas were in exile Subhadra, Krsna's sister, brought them to Dvaraka and watched over them for Draupadi, Pradyumna was their guru in Dhanur Veda and Krsna and Balarama watched over them. Yet they were murdered in their sleep.

So I think it unwise for someone who is not omniscient to say anything in such matters.

Your humble servant,
