Kirtanananda at Henry Street
BY: BHAKTA CHARLIE
Aug 04, ALACHUA, FLORIDA, USA (SUN) Regarding Mahananda Prabhu's very nicely FOCUSED article on Kirtanananda "Swami", and his persistent disobedience to Srila Prabhupada ("Whereabouts are Unknown"), I remember sitting in the prasadam room at Henry Street, Brooklyn, a small circle of a half-dozen bhaktas, around 1972, listening to visiting Kirtanananda "Swami" talk to us about "Love of God"....
In light of Mahananda's article, WHY was he even PERMITTED to do this???
This was really many years AFTER Srila Prabhupada had vehemently flagged Kirtanananda as a renegade, and actually mentally ill.
I've recently had some dispute with the "senior" devotees here over WHY they did not STICK UP for SRILA PRABHUPADA and REJECT the nonsense that occurred, even early on in ISKCON's history, what to speak of after Srila Prabhupada's Disappearance?
I'm SORRY to have to bring it up, but it really seems to me, if real devotees HAD stuck up for Srila Prabhupada, ISKCON today WOULD be something we could all be really PROUD of, instead of having to worry about justifying the current state of affairs.
