ISKCON DC Panders to the Hindu Dollar

Amma wants to hug you, too!!

May 21, 2012 — CANADA (SUN) — Not to be outdone by Hari Vilasa's non-ISKCON Hindu temple in Seattle, ISKCON of DC is now leaping into the homa fire, pandering to the Hindus for easy money. In yet another demonstration of the Interfaith-for-everybody mentality, ISKCON DC has arranged to have the Mayavadi 'hugging guru', Divine Mother Amma appear at the temple on June 24th.

"Revered by many as the embodiment of wisdom, peace and unconditional love, Amma Sri Karunamayi will be giving discourses on the fundamental truths that support all faiths as part of her eighteenth World Tour in 2012."

In recent past, the ISKCON DC fund-raising committee reportedly arranged another special event, at Janmastami, bringing in a 'famous' hired singer from India… wait for it… to chant Hare Krishna. It cost the temple over $15,000, we're told. The singer was overheard fighting with hotel staff, demanding that his chicken and beer be delivered punctually.

Meanwhile, Hugging Mother Amma offers this wisdom on her world tour website:

"I have not come to you as a Guru --
I have come to you as your own Mother."

While Mother Amma is hugging, and the gullible congregants are getting out their wallets, perhaps someone at ISKCON DC will remember our spiritual Father, Srila Prabhupada, who delivered Lord Caitanya's strict instructions about avoiding the company of Mayavadis, at all cost.
