This beautiful temple carving is like a freeze-frame, illustrating a particular moment of Lord Nrsimhadev's pastime. Here, He has just reached out and grasped hold of Hiranyakasipu, who stands with his back to the Lord. Both are standing, with Hiranyakasipu on one leg, indicating that he is off balance or in motion. Lord Nrsimhadev's head is tall and narrow, reminiscent of Lord Varaha. There is no broken column in this scene, but rather two strong side walls.
