Thanks to the Devotees

BY: GEORGE A. SMITH

Mar 18, CALIFORNIA, USA (SUN) — I wish to thank the devotees Kurma dasa (not the chef), Bhakta Howard, Gadadhara dasa and Rocana prabhu for their appreciation of my recent article, "Hridayananda and His Dogs". "Brilliant" is not an adjective that I would ascribe to my articles or to myself, but rather to your own selves, for you are the servants of Srila Prabhupada's lotus feet, the devotees of Lord Krsna and not I. You are the followers of the way, the truth and the light, while I have only glimpsed that light. Who can say what it is that draws the darkness to the flame?

One time, one time only I caught a glimpse of his brilliance. It was in the temple room of Lord Jagannatha on Capital Hill in Seattle and someone was playing one of Srila Prabhupada's lecture tapes, simply his recorded voice, so powerful. Difficult to put in words, but if all the oceans in all of the worlds were poured into one vast sea, they would still not equal the depth of Srila Prabhupada's devotion to Lord Krsna or match the expanse of the mercy he offers us, pure love of Godhead he pours down like rain onto everyone with no consideration of qualification and with only one request: "please take."

"Please, please take, please take Krsna's Name."

Nevertheless, I thank you for your kind appreciations.

To Gadadhara prabhu, your recent article, "Present Civilization is Run by Vaishyas" was quite illuminating and I hope that we will be able to discuss it more in future articles.

To Kurma dasa (not the chef), yes, you are right, they have no choice, they have to rid themselves completely of Srila Prabhupada if they are to maintain themselves in their positions and continue their conversion of Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON into just another damned church of this world. We should talk more of this.

To Bhakta Howard and to all the other bhaktas and bhaktins of the world, it grieves me, prabhus, that what Srila Prabhupada built to facilitate you has been stolen. But hang in there, it isn't over yet. One day we will have an ISKCON that Srila Prabhupada our Sampradaya Acarya will be proud of, hopefully before I die and long before any of you do. In the meantime, if any of you are in my area maybe we could get together and do some sankirtana and Harinam together.

Please accept my thanks all of you and my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

P.S. To Suresh and Mr. (or is it Ms.) Praghosa - My God rips out the guts of child abusers and wears them round His neck as a decoration, but only one of you needs to be afraid of Him or of His servants. And to help you out, Praghosa, I'll give you a clue: it isn't Suresh.

As Srila Prabhupada explained, a thief will think everyone else is a thief and similarly these kind hearted devotees are projecting their own good qualities on you. I believe that to be their mistake.
