What is the Maharaji Talking About?

BY: VAISHNAVA-DHARMA DASA

Mar 05, USA (SUN) — There has been discussion about The Barking Dog video, where Narayana Maharaja (here referred to as Maharaji), criticizes the translation of a Bhagavad-gita text. He made a big fuss, exclaiming: "…this is wrong…what is explained is totally wrong."

However we found on the Web Maharaji's translation of the same text with the same meaning, so our question is, what is he talking about? I don't personally read his books nor am I interested in reading them at all, but we found that some mataji uploaded this:

Narayana Maharaja should take care of his own books first, and not criticize others. You can find further discussion on the issue by Parasurama prabhu, "More Narayana Poison" (by the way, the British devotees have been suffering harassment from Narayana Maharaja's followers for quite some time), and here: "Blasphemy AND Misrepresentation".

In the Barking Dog video, Maharaji throws in poison. At the beginning of the video Narayana Maharaja refers to women and black people, implying it to be Srila Prabhupada's preaching: "…they should not be given bhakti… they cannot be given bhakti and so many other things…and so many in ISKCON left only for this…"

He is flatly lying and misleading people by saying this. It is understood that he only fakes respect to Srila Prabhupada, factually he does not respect him.

Just one example of what Srila Prabhupada preaches:

"But Krsna is so merciful. If you take the shelter of Krsna's lotus feet, whatever you may be... You may be scholar or not scholar. You may be rich or poor; women, sudra, vaisya, or papa-yoni. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. In Bhagavata also, Sukadeva Gosvami says, kirata-hunandhra-pulinda-pulkasa abhira-sumbha yavanah khasadayah ye 'nye ca papa. Papa means born in low-grade family. They are called papa. Suddhyanti: they become purified. This is the verdict of the sastras, that bhagavad-bhakti does not depend on any kind of material qualification. Simply you have to become very sincere and serious. That is the only price."
    (Lecture on Caitanya-caritamrta Adi-lila 7.9.1-2, Vrndvan, March 13, 1974)

It is said about Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu:

"If they see You just once, even women, children, old men, meat-eaters and members of the lowest caste immediately chant the holy name of Krsna, dance like madmen and become spiritual masters capable of delivering the whole world." (Caitanya-caritamrta Madhya 18.122)

Srila Prabhupada worked the same wonder. Sri Caitanya is known as Mahaprabhu, the Great Master or Great Lord, and His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami being undoubtedly His representative, is known as Prabhupada –the representative of the Great Lord, of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Justly so.

Srila Prabhupada has great faith in the statements of the Sastra and the Acaryas, therefore he came to the West to preach and to rain mercy upon all, without discrimination. Not one of his contemporaries did it, only he believed it and did it. The opportunity was open for anyone, but he had to come by himself to struggle without help, out of compassion for the conditioned souls.

He had great faith in verses like this one:

"To say nothing of the spiritual advancement of persons who see the Supreme Person face to face, even a person born in a family of dog-eaters becomes immediately eligible to perform Vedic sacrifices if he once utters the holy name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or chants about Him, hears about His pastimes, offers Him obeisances or even remembers Him."
    (Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.33.6)

To conclude otherwise is nonsense.
