In Support of Tulsi Gabbard's Message on
Gita Jayanti

BY: ISVARA DASA

Jan 25, 2014 — INDIA (SUN) — The just posted Jaya Madhava article on Tulsi Gabbard has left a sour taste to many who have been following his articles where he simply rants on varieties of issues on ISKCON and its management. This article follows the other one recently posted by HH. Bhakti Vikasa Swami, on the same topic, and attacking ISKCON News or the leaders for their support of Tulsi Gabbard by airing her praise of the Bhagavad-gita. Before I go on in this, a friend of mine received this note from Tulsi Gabbard about her views on gay marriage and abortion, which both Bhakti Vikasa Maharaja and Jaya Madhava das are accusing her of. Here is her letter:

“Dear Paramananda Das, I hope you are well. In answer to your question “Do you support gay marriages done by churches and temples against their will by being pressured to do gay weddings?” No, the decision should be made by the respective religious organization, temples, etc. themselves. I’ve said many times that the government should stay out of the marriage business. It should be left to individuals and their respective religious institution. In answer to your question "do you support abortion?" I would never have an abortion, nor would I encourage anyone to have an abortion. I believe in the eternality of the soul and that the atma is present is at conception. I’ve made my position on this very clear. I also believe that every woman has to make that choice for herself and the government should not make it for her. If the government in power today has the power to force a woman not to have an abortion, then the government of tomorrow could have the power to force women to have an abortion. Government should never have such power over individual or personal lives. Namaste,

    Tulsi”

So here above we heard from Tulsi Gabbard on her words. We can make our own conclusion. Tulsi Gabbard is one of the lawmakers of the United Stated of America. Rather than hiding her faith in Lord Krishna and His teachings, she had gone out boldly praising the Bhavagad-gita as the cure for the ills of humanity. This is a momentous achievement that will be very satisfying to Srila Prabhupada and all our previous acaryas. We can just imagine how glad Srila Prabhupada, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta and Srila Bhaktivinoda would be by hearing this praise of the Bhagavad-gita to the public by a lawmaker of the most powerful country in the planet.

In her YouTube messages on the Gita Jayanti, she quoted a few verses from the Bhagavad-gita As It Is. She wasn’t quoting from the mayavadi translations, but from Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita, which is the basis of her beliefs. How could any devotee object to that? Well, the fact is she has amassed a huge spiritual credit for that and ISKCON News and authority had done rightly by her promotions, even though she is not a member of ISKCON.
